Margarita graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, with honors, with a BBA in accounting and the University of Puerto Rico Law School. She was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in 1970 and began her legal career as a staff attorney for the Economic Development Administration of Puerto Rico. Subsequently she established her own private practice in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
In 1990 she was admitted to the Illinois Bar and became a partner with the law office of Mankus & Marchan, Ltd.. She is in charge of the law firm's Aurora office where she focuses on Social Security Disability claims and real estate matters.
Ms. Marchan-Mankus is licensed to practice in Illinois and Puerto Rico. She is also a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
